Term 4 Week 3

  Week 3 Kia ora Whānau THIS TUESDAY Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff, along with teachers from St Michael’s Rotorua, St Mary’s Putararu and Bishop Edward Gaines in Tokoroa are involved in Titiro Whakamuri kia haere whakamua Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday so I ask that you pick your child up at 2.15pm. If you require after school care you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Term 4 Week 2

Kia ora Whānau We hope you have enjoyed the long weekend! Thank you for continuing to follow the Covid Alert Level 2 procedures. Last week’s blog post has a brief outline to remind you of what level 2 looks like for our Kākano students. Raffles Thank you for your support with the selling of our PTA’s Raffle Books. The books must be returned tomorrow Tuesday sold or unsold. Swimming This week Kākano 4 and 5 will be swimming. Children will need to bring their swimming togs and a towel everyday this week. Term 4 Week 1

  Kia ora Whānau and welcome back to T4 We hope you had a lovely holiday and managed to spend some time in the beautiful spring sunshine. Unfortunately we are still in Covid Alert L2 and ask you to follow the correct procedures for this alert level.  We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Here is a small reminder of what level 2 looks like for Rotorua St Mary’s Kākano Students: Arrive at school between 8:45-9:00 School pick up between 2:45-2:55pm NO PARENTS IN THE CLASS Children need a water bottle If your child is sick, please keep them home. Term 4 reminders… Uniform: This term children need to be wearing summer uniforms. Boys: Grey shorts Blue polo top Black/Brown sandals Girls: Summer tunic Black/Brown sandals It is compulsory for all children to have a school sunhat when playing outside during T4.  Please make sure your child returns to school on Monday in the correct summer uniform with their SCHOOL sunhat.  All clothing needs to be named! Term 3 Week 10

  Kia Ora Kākano Whanau, Well done everyone on making it safe and sound for Week 10.  It has been a busy and strange term with Lockdown and Online Learning.  We thank you once again for your cooperation and support during this time and into our current Level 2 restrictions.  Catholic Schools’ Day.   Catholic Schools Day is Wednesday. Thanks to Mrs Hall and her team for organising the day. Catholic Schools Day is about celebrating our unique Catholic Character, in faith, excellence and service. It is another opportunity to celebrate the taonga of Catholic Education for which we are kaitiaki. The theme for Catholic Schools Day, 2021 is Tūrangawaewae: Catholic Schools – A Place to Stand.   Children are welcome to wear their own clothing on Wednesday instead of uniforms. Week 9 update and reminders

What a busy week we have had. It has been great having such amazing weather so we can be outside.  The children have enjoyed building huts, fixing the outside chicken coop, water play, and updating the gardens. We have been continuing our meditation every week. This is such a nice time for our class.  Golden time last week we played hairdressers. I was only able to take a few photos this time as the hair styles changed with each hair dresser!!! This week your child will have brought home a form inviting you to provide some input into your child's class placement for 2022. These forms are optional to complete and are due back by Friday 1 October. Due to Covid Level 2, we suggest the forms be returned via the Class Teacher. Our younger students tend to move with many of their current classmates when placed into classes for the next school year. Children are generally classed as Year 0 if they commenced school after 1 April this year, and Year 1 if they commenced school between 1...

  Kia Ora Kākano Whanau!! We hope that you have been out enjoying the sunshine this weekend.  On Rāmere (Friday) our school had WIG DAY. We would like to thank all the children and families who helped us to raise money for Cancer. We were able to raise $580.00. This is an awesome result and we thank you so much for your support.  Here are some of the children with Whaea Shayla in their wigs on Rāmere! We are still in level 2 and we are so proud of all the children for being able to manage themselves and their jobs in the morning. It has been so awesome to see the children grow in confidence and independence over the last week.   Kia Ora Kākano Whanau Welcome to week 8. This week is Maori Language Week: " Kia kaha te Reo Māori " - Make the Māori language strong. We had a lovely 2 days back last week and the children all settled in so well.  We are very proud of how the children adjusted to level 2.   A brief overview of level 2 at school for Kanao children. * Arrive at school between 8:45-9:00 * School pick up between 2:45-2:55pm * NO PARENTS IN THE CLASS * CHildren need a water bottle * If your child is sick, please keep them home.
