This week is the last week of Lent and we have so many special days to remember and learn about leading up to Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus rose from the dead.  We have some special learning happening for the children this week to help them learn about the Holy Week.  On Tuesday we have a Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15pm in the church On Thursday we have a Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15pm in the hall.  We are teaching all our tamariki about what the week leading up to Easter Sunday is really about. Term 1 Week 8

Wow what an amazing Gala we had, everyone looked like they really enjoyed the night. We would love to thank the hardworking PTA for providing a great night for our school community to come together.  We also want to thank all the amazing families and sponsors who supported the school in this successful event.  In a few weeks we will find out how much money has been raised for our school.   Even the teachers got to try the bouncy castle. On Tuesday we have rice day, this is a fundraiser for Caritas. The children need to bring in a bowl and fork and a gold coin donation. As a school we all come together and have our rice at lunchtime.  We remember how some children around the world only get rice to eat everyday, every meal. We talk about how we are so lucky to have the food available to us.  The children only need morning tea packed.   All students are expected to participate. It is a good thing to allow your child to experience what having limited choices feels like and plain food taste

Week 6 updates and reminders

Thank you for supporting the ice block fundraiser. Today was the last day. Reminder it is library day and sausage sizzle/juicy day on FRIDAY. If your child is in POMPALLIER they will need to be dressed in green on Friday. Over the last few weeks we have been talking about the Zones of Regulation.  Children are learning to identify what zone they are in and we are working through some ways to come out of the zones and to be in the green zone. Here are the types of feelings children might feel if they are in different zones. Blue zone - sad, sick, bored, tired Green zone - happy, calm, focussed, ready to learn Yellow zone - frustrated, worried, silly, overexcited Red zone - angry, terrified, yelling/hitting, out of control. We have linked each zone to an Inside Out  character so that they have this visual. Talk to your child at home about which zone they are in and what they could do to get back to the green zone.

Term 1 Week 6

Welcome to week 6 of Term 1. This week we move back to Level 1 which means parents are allowed back into our classrooms.  We are so proud of the way the children are able to manage themselves each day as they do their morning jobs.  You can support your child to become independent by encouraging them to carry their own school bag and to complete their morning routines. It is still important if your child is sick that they do not attend school.  Snotty noses, coughs and tummy bugs have been doing the rounds.  Please keep your child at home if they are unwell! The First Aiders are fundraising this week and will have ice blocks for sale Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If your child would like to purchase an ice block they can bring $1 to school. What is happening this week: Monday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Tuesday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Wednesday: Ice Blocks for sale at lunchtime $1  Thursday: Normal school day Friday: Library - please make sure your children h
