Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We have made it to the last week of term!! Last year, term one wasn’t so successful, as we had gone into lockdown after only 8 weeks. It has been a great term. All of the classes have settled well with their new teachers and we, the teachers, have loved getting to know all of the children and families. Thank you for your support during this term with various school and classroom events. Take a look at some of the photos from last week: We were lucky to Senior Constable Regan in to talk to the children about safety in the car. He talked about having the correct car seats in for the children as well as the importance of ALWAYS wearing your seatbelt. It is always great to have these community leaders come in and see the children for a casual chat so that the children know that these people are out there to help us. Principal's Morning Tea On Wednesday, some children will be selected to go to a Principal’s morning tea. There are only 3 children per cl...

Term 1 Week 10

Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We hope you all had a restful and holy Easter weekend. This week is a short school week.  We have noticed many of our tamariki are tired as we race towards the end of the term.  It is important for children to have an early bedtime to ensure they are getting enough sleep as well as lunch boxes that are filled with brain food such as fruit, yoghurt, vege snacks and sandwiches. Thank you to the families who have donated spreads for the children to use as they make their own toast and to those who have donated tools, and building supplies for our carpentry area.  Your generosity is much appreciated. Not much is happening this week at school (apart from all our wonderful learning opportunities). Wow what an amazing Gala we had, everyone looked like they really enjoyed the night. We would love to thank the hardworking PTA for providing a great night for our school community to come together.  We also want to thank all the amazing families and sponsors who supported the school in this successful event.  In a few weeks we will find out how much money has been raised for our school.   Even the teachers got to try the bouncy castle. On Tuesday we have rice day, this is a fundraiser for Caritas. The children need to bring in a bowl and fork and a gold coin donation. As a school we all come together and have our rice at lunchtime.  We remember how some children around the world only get rice to eat everyday, every meal. We talk about how we are so lucky to have the food available to us.  The children only need morning tea packed.   All students are expected to participate. It is a good thing to allow your child to experience what having limited ...

Week 6 updates and reminders

Image
Thank you for supporting the ice block fundraiser. Today was the last day. Reminder it is library day and sausage sizzle/juicy day on FRIDAY. If your child is in POMPALLIER they will need to be dressed in green on Friday. Over the last few weeks we have been talking about the Zones of Regulation.  Children are learning to identify what zone they are in and we are working through some ways to come out of the zones and to be in the green zone. Here are the types of feelings children might feel if they are in different zones. Blue zone - sad, sick, bored, tired Green zone - happy, calm, focussed, ready to learn Yellow zone - frustrated, worried, silly, overexcited Red zone - angry, terrified, yelling/hitting, out of control. We have linked each zone to an Inside Out  character so that they have this visual. Talk to your child at home about which zone they are in and what they could do to get back to the green zone.
