What a wonderful and busy term we had!! All of the children deserve a restful holiday break! On the last day of school, a few items were sent home for the students to carry on their reading over the holidays. You will find this in a clear plastic sleeve in their book bags. All of the students will have: 4 books These are intended to be read by the children over the break. 2 books a week, just like if they were at school. These are books they haven't read before and may find them tricky, so adults can of course support them by reading the books to them first.  A sheet for Sunshine Classics This is an online activity tool that you can do on a computer or iPad. The login is the child's name as one word with a capital letter for the last name (they are all written on the sheet) The password is reading. Term 1 Week 10

  Kia Ora Kākano Whānau,  We have made it to the last week of term!! Last year, term one wasn’t so successful, as we had gone into lockdown after only 8 weeks. It has been a great term. All of the classes have settled well with their new teachers and we, the teachers, have loved getting to know all of the children and families. Thank you for your support during this term with various school and classroom events. Take a look at some of the photos from last week: We were lucky to Senior Constable Regan in to talk to the children about safety in the car. He talked about having the correct car seats in for the children as well as the importance of ALWAYS wearing your seatbelt. It is always great to have these community leaders come in and see the children for a casual chat so that the children know that these people are out there to help us. Week 3 Term 3

  We would like to thank everyone who came along to the three-way conferences last week.  These are a great way to celebrate the children's learning and look at what the children will be learning next. Today is the  Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and we will be celebrating this on Friday.  We celebrate this with  Mass on Friday at 12pm.  Parents and families are welcome to join us.  We have other fun activities to celebrate with the children during the day. Please remember school starts at 8:45am.  The teachers mark the roll  at this time. If your children arrive after this time they need to go to the office as they are late. Keeping Ourselves Safe There is a community hui at St Mary's School on Monday 9 August, 5.15-6pm, in Room 14, where I will explain what the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme entails, and share some tips about keeping your young ones safe.
